Behind closed doors
03/07/2008 send to a friend
Yesterday was another day on the road and another day of discovering the many exciting and different businesses being run from homes across the UK. This list is just a snapshot of what's happening behind closed doors.
From A to Z
In Harrow on the Hill I met Michelle whose best friend is about to start a beauty business and whose Mum runs a typesetting company from the family front room. She does book typesetting and has worked on books for the likes of Robbie Williams and Little Britain ... type set from her front room.
On to Croydon, where the stories of adventure flowed:
- Harvey who has just resigned as a bus driver to work full time on his business being an eBay trading assistant
- The single Mum who is making exotic drinks out of sorrell (I bought a bottle for £8.50!)
- A former corporate exec who has headed home to start an events company
- The 3 ladies exploring starting a business offering advice to parents with autistic children
- An 18 year old, fresh-faced entrepreneur who is launching a photographic business
- And Cecilia who teaches English and French, with a cosmopolitan flair
From teachers to beauticians, traders and producers, it's most definitely all happening at home! - Emma Jones

Survey
Enterprise Nation is undertaking the largest ever survey of home businesses and we'd love you to help!
It'll only take a few minutes. Your responses won't be shared but they will paint a picture of just what's happening in entrepreneurial homes across the UK. The results will be written up in our 2008 Home Business Report, which will be free and available on the site in October.
