Julie Hall has been working for herself since 2000. She’s a Mum and a business owner and she’s got big plans. Her site was created to help women achieve more and she’s strengthening that with offline events and meet-ups.  Meet Julie right here, right now.

When did you start Women Unlimited?

The idea for Women Unlimited had been brewing since April 2008, but it was after going to a Christopher Howard event at the end of June that I pulled my finger out and started to do something about it.

How did you come up with the idea?

I came up with the idea for Women Unlimited because I wanted to actively support women in entrepreneurship.  I have been working for myself since Jan 2000 and felt that there was scope for a website that talked about the whole woman, not just the business woman.  I wanted to inspire, motivate and share stories from other women that are doing amazing things. 

You’ve got some great people involved – how have you recruited them?

Just asked!  Seriously, I have been very lucky with Women Unlimited and have managed to pull a wonderful team together, who are all committed to the vision.  A big part of the Women Unlimited offering are the bi-annual events that we are holding which will bring women together and help them achieve more.  We want to recognise that women have different pressures and motivations and share how we can create more success in our lives and our businesses.

How are you promoting the site?

Building relationships with other businesses that also support women and entrepreneurship.  Supporting women on forums and through networking events and hard graft.

What is your single favourite piece of technology?

Hmm, good question… I’m not really a technology hound but I do like things to work really well.  My latest purchase was a 3 USB mobile broadband stick and I was very excited when I discovered I could update my website while on the train between Wimbledon and Blackfriars.  That was pretty amazing.  The software has been a little buggy, but I am thrilled with the functionality.

What are your plans for the next 6 months?

Big plans… Firstly we’re going to be holding another event towards the end of March for Women Entrepreneurs, we’re holding a feel the fear and do it anyway workshop on November 25th at the British Library and are planning to launch a woman’s entrepreneur circle in the next few months.  Also, the website is going to develop to become more community oriented and will enable people to upload their own content soon.  Lots to do… so watch this space.
