Startup School for Seniors is an online cohort-based course designed to support those aged 50+ seeking to become self-employed. The programme is delivered as a series of pre-recorded video modules, with one-to-one mentoring from experienced entrepreneurs and business advisors, peer-to-peer online group sessions and workshops.

All the videos are transcribed and captioned for anyone with accessibility issues. The programme is ideally suited to those considering self-employment or at the early stage of their business. The programme considers an older person's requirements for flexibility, often due to caregiving responsibilities or their health and mobility issues.

The course will help participants to:

  • Determine their ideal customer and where to find them
  • Understand how to price their product or service
  • Know the legal requirements of running their business
  • Create a one-page business plan
  • Feel more confident about the steps they need to take to start or grow your business.

Thanks to funding from the GLA, the course is free of charge to Londoners on Universal Credit, ESA, economically inactive or with caring responsibilities

Courses run throughout the year (January - March, April - June, September - November).
