Littlest Paws Club is a dog daycare and walking service operating in Walthamstow and its surroundings.

Founder Jo Wright and her team meet clients from the area to walk their dogs and enjoy the green spaces around the town. Jo also offers a grooming service for pets.

How Grow London Local helped Jo

The business has a few challenges to contend with. Urban dog care can be difficult due to the amount of traffic, so managing the animals' safety is absolutely crucial.

Jo was also struggling to find the time to market the business and reach new clients, as well as carrying out all the day-to-day admin tasks she's responsible for.

Jo got in touch with Grow London Local and worked closely with Business Support Manager Kate Capelli, who referred her to the Rebel Business School courses to help grow her business. Going forward, Jo aims to spend more time perfecting her marketing and budgeting skills.

Watch the video to find out about Jo's story.

Tell us about your business.

My name's Jo and I run Littlest Paws Club, which is a dog walking and dog daycare business.

I have my own dog, a little Jack Russell, and it all started when I felt like he would like to walk with another dog and have some friends while I was working from home. So I offered to walk some dogs with him, and then I just got asked to do it more!

I enjoyed it more than my old job and I saw a gap in the market. I thought, I'm just going to go for it.

What are some challenges you face as a business owner?

Because I'm quite busy actually running the business, it makes it challenging to carry on with my marketing and getting more clients that we definitely need. We're still looking for more clients.

So, it's a challenge finding the time to market, but also to accept clients within certain areas because of how hard it can be to get out to pick the dogs up.

How were you introduced to Grow London Local?

I found Grow London Local on a Google search when I was looking for business support. So far, I've been signposted to some great initiatives and courses, and I've signed up to the Rebel Business School online course.

What services would you like to receive in the future?

I'm really hoping to get more knowledge on how to best take my business forward with marketing and budgeting and all the things I haven't been able to spend time on at the beginning, while I've been out there just running it.

What advice would you give other small business owners in London?

Just get straight out there and look online for the help that's out there. Because it is out there, and that's how I found Grow London Local.
