How to import certain goods from the EU to the UK
Posted: Wed 27th Jul 2022
In this webinar, international trade expert Mike Wilson explains what small business owners need to know about the pre-notification of goods. He shares guidance on importing food, animal by-products, plants and plant products to Great Britain.
New requirements came into effect on 1 January 2022 for businesses importing products such as meat or plants to Great Britain from the EU.
You must now pre-notify when importing from the EU:
most products of animal origin
animal by-products
high-risk food not of animal origin, and
regulated plants and plant products
When importing these goods from the EU, you (or a representative acting on your behalf) may need to pre-notify authorities that your consignment will be entering Great Britain. You can do this on the relevant IT system. The change does not currently apply to goods moving from Ireland to Great Britain.
