The mobile app designed to make parenting much simpler
Posted: Thu 24th Oct 2024
Parentree is an AI-driven mobile app that gives parents (and parents-to-be) access to consultations with parenting experts, a library of accessible resources and tools and ways to connect with a community or support network.
Co-founded by Soraya Khalili, the company aims to simplify the parenting journey from preconception to raising toddlers and is aimed at today's first-time parents, the busy millennials.
How Grow London Local helped Soraya
Soraya needed support with building up both sides of the platform (those targeted at service providers and parents) through marketing and networking.
Through its community outreach work, Grow London Local met Soraya and from there, referred her to a number of sources of support, including GoodTech Ventures' Good Tech Accelerator programme, Foundervine's Barclays Black Founder Programme and UK Start Now's Parents in Business networking event.

Tell us about your business.
Hello. My name is Soraya Khalil and I'm the co-founder of Parentree. Parentree is an AI-driven mobile app that supports parents and parents-to-be through their parenting journey from preconception through to toddler years.
What are some challenges you face as a business owner?
I would say as a tech founder, some of the key challenges – and particularly one of the main ones – is navigating the tech landscape, as it's constantly evolving, constantly changing. So it's important to keep up to date with all the technology advancements.
How were you introduced to Grow London Local?
I was introduced at an event that was sponsored by AthenaFundx and I had the fantastic opportunity to meet [Grow London Local Business Support Manager] Kristen there.
We spoke in person and that's how I discovered Grow London Local's opportunities, advisory support and personalised business support programmes.
How has Grow London Local helped your business?
We've been introduced to communities like Foundervine, which has been amazing. In addition, communities like the UK Start Now parenting business start-up.
They even have a WhatsApp group, which I joined, which has been amazing. You have a lot of parents who are founders and they share information, programmes and all sorts of resources that they've had first-hand experience in using.
What advice would you give other small business owners in London?
The key advice I would give, based on my experience, is to leverage local resources and community engagement. It's remarkable how much the support that you get from your own community can help accelerate business growth.
