Plan it with Purpose: Sustainable Small Business Awards

The Sustainable Small Business Awards have now closed for entries.

At Enterprise Nation, we love to recognise small businesses across the UK that are making a conscious effort to be sustainable. We're launching our Sustainable Small Business Awards to champion the achievements of our nation's small businesses.

Nominations are open until 11:59pm (UK time) on Wednesday 3 August 2022, so you have plenty of time to put forward any business you believe has taken commendable steps to improve its sustainability.

Awards categories

The awards form part of Plan it with Purpose, our programme to help owners of small and medium-sized businesses develop a better understanding of environmental and social issues in the UK. We're on the hunt to find those small businesses that are making a difference.

The Sustainable Small Business Awards include the following five categories:

Sustainable Business Transition Award: Recognising established businesses that have broken down barriers, explored new opportunities and made changes in pursuit of a more sustainable society.
Sustainability Changemaker Award: Celebrating an individual who is leading the way and stands out for their passion for change in the world of sustainability.
Sustainable Start-up Award: Recognising businesses that formed after December 2020 and have since made considerable progress in growing and developing with sustainability at their core.
Sustainable Next Generation Business Award: Recognising young entrepreneurs, aged 18 to 24, who have shown progress in delivering on a commitment to net zero and helping other people do so too.
Sustainable Scale-up Award: Recognising growing businesses that have been running for longer than 18 months and made significant environmental, social and economic changes in an effort to achieve a sustainable future.

Why businesses should enter

The awards are a great opportunity for small businesses to receive recognition for making a conscious effort to be sustainable, and stand out from their competitors.

Enterprise Nation will spotlight shortlisted entries through its website, social media and case studies. Winners will receive £5,000 worth of sustainability consultancy advice from Good Business as well as their own Sustainable Small Business Award.

After entries close on Wednesday 3 August 2022, there will be a period of shortlisting. We'll announce the winners the week commencing 5 September 2022.
