MY EXPERIENCE
My career saw successful growth as a Management Accountant and I was employed within several industries including distribution, licensed retail, sports, leisure and hospitality and security working for employers such as Queens Park Rangers Football Club, Wasps Rugby Club, The Sports Café Group, BNI (Business Network International) and David Lloyd Leisure to name a few.
During my career, I was involved with a five-year spell with Queens Park Rangers Football Club which would see the parent club enter administration and exit 14 months later which taught me a lot about business and how day-to-day survival is critical for some businesses.
My own business journey started in 2001 when my family and I took over the trading operation of the Ashwell Arms, a quiet sleepy public house in Leighton Buzzard, where we grew the business and turned a back street pub into an award-winning thriving community local pub recognised by Charles Wells Brewery. We exited the industry due to the birth of children in the family.
My local leadership record has been proven with the formation of the Kettering Business Network in June 2015 which saw our networking and local engagement model rolled out across Northamptonshire with the Corby, Wellingborough, East Northants, Northampton, Daventry and across the border into Market Harborough.
In 2018, I founded the Kettering Business Awards and collaborated with local businesses to organise, market, and promote the event to recognise the success of local businesses.
This gave a lift to our business community as well as supported local charities with the proceeds of the event.
In 2019, the Kettering Business Network was a Finalist at the National SME Business Awards at Wembley Stadium for Business Networking Group of the Year and was also recognised as Runner Up at the SME Northamptonshire Business Awards in 2018 in the same category.

VOLUNTEER SUPPORT
I have been a volunteer Business Advisor and Mentor for the Young Enterprise Company Programme between 2010 and 2019 working with local schools and students participating in the programme. In 2018, I was presented with the Gold Award for services to Young Enterprise.
I have also been a judge at Young Enterprise competitions.

I have represented local businesses at the local authority engagement level and national level when I was invited to meet with the Prime Minister’s Business Advisors at 10 Downing Street.
