&lt;p&gt;I help businesses interpret the Brexit negotiations. I developed the relevant knowledge of the European Union as a lobbyist in Brussels and through training.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;After the EU referendum in June 2016, I set up my own consultancy to apply my skills in more practical and targeted ways. I help businesses and organisations understand what the new commercial environment might look like, whether they export or import goods, trade locally or provide services.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;My clients appreciate my translating of what is happening in the negotiations and my clear explanations. I identify which EU rules are relevant to them and set out what would happen if the legislation remained in place, changed or was deleted.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I like the challenge of illuminating the newly forming commercial environment and how business can cope with the change and turn it to their benefit.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;This work requires tenacity, attention to detail and background knowledge, but also an ability to break down complex issues into manageable chunks and illustrate them creatively. Together with my UK business partner I have taken visualisation of Brexit impacts to the next level, with tube-style Brexit maps for each of the UK&amp;rsquo;s regions.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;My recent background is with the Federation of Small Businesses where I headed their EU and International Affairs department. As a Brussels lobbyist I have nearly two decades of experience with EU regulation, especially for the digital and services sector, but also with regard to aviation. I was involved in negotiations on the EU-US trade deal, TTIP, representing small and medium-sized businesses. Previously, I worked for councils to obtaining EU funding for local organisations.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I have a Master&amp;rsquo;s degree in Politics from the Free University of Amsterdam and also a Master&amp;rsquo;s degree in French linguistics from the University of Amsterdam, including one year studying at La Sorbonne. Having lived and worked in both the UK and the continent, I am fully aware of the different political and commercial cultures.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;My skills, knowledge and experience enable me to anticipate what can be expected in the UK-EU negotiations. The UK currently applies the same single market rules as the rest of the EU. The trade negotiations next year will discuss, for &lt;em&gt;each of them&lt;/em&gt;, whether the UK keeps the same rules, and if not, whether a system of mutual recognition can be negotiated.&lt;/p&gt;
